May 1st march down Mission

Protestors protesting

I’d make a terrible photojournalist.

That’s because the pics in this post were taken on May 1st, and here it is late in the afternoon on May 6th that I’m finally posting them.

In my defense, this is because I finally found time last night to play around with my Picassa account and the software they let you download, then I discovered that if you host pics on Picassa you can make slide shows.

So that’s what I did.

I also discovered that I can transfer pics from the Canon camera we recently obtained into my Picassa program and then upload them to my online account.

This is good news, considering that my blog host recently dumped several folders of hundreds of pics that are embedded in past posts.

*poof*

Gone Forever.

Bastards.

So new pics are hosted at my Picassa account from now on, and backed up on my drive.

That being said, here’s the first slide show of many to come.

——————————————————————-

On Saturday May 1st, I heard a noise outside the door.

A really LOUD noise.

After peeking out the window, I grabbed the camera and stepped out onto the sidewalk.

Thousands of people were marching to city hall to protest Arizona’s new immigration laws, fearing that it’s an indication of things to come and that California will follow suit.

I guess they had to march, since the buses weren’t running up and down Mission due to the.. march..

Hey, wait.

It was all quite noisy.

Later that evening a bunch of cops suddenly showed up and closed off our block.

It had nothing to do with the march earlier that day. There’s an abandoned school midway down the block that’s chained off with a fence.

Some group tried to break-in and “occupy” it in protest and make it into a homeless shelter. The problem was that they did it illegally, by not obtaining permits or asking anyone. They just showed up and broke in.

That’s never a good idea, as you can see, because hundreds of cops show up in riot gear and take you away.

It sure is entertaining to watch, though.

Life In The Mission

From the Mission Street window view..

Bum #1 comes by with beer can, gulps down last of it, throws can into gutter.

The can lays there for about 15 minutes.

Bum #2 comes along and picks up can, squeezes out last few drops, wipes his beard, throws can back down into gutter.

I love beer too!

He can’t lose, not with the Illuminati aliens behind him. He’s probably the Antichrist too. Might as well be, while he’s at it.

UNLIKE earlier in the evening when the whooping sirens yelled after the speeding vehicle they pursued through the intersection.

Finally, having had enough of not living, the man stood up one day and announced to his wife of nineteen years, “We’re going to San Francisco!” She heartily agreed and together they started winding the countdown clock that would propel them into the rest of their future.
