When calling 911..

by RhodesTer on May 4, 2009

phone..it’s important to follow these three simple steps.

  1. Keep a cool head. Explain what’s happening in a clear, calm voice.
  2. Have all of your information organized and ready to go.
  3. Whatever you do DON’T SWEAR, or they just may hang up on you and let your loved-one die, because that’s really kind of offensive, you know.

No doubt about it, she was a potty mouth but on the same hand, that 9-1-1 operator was an idot!!!

Yeah, you’d think that the F-bomb would get overlooked when it comes to someone having a seizure and in most cases I’m sure it does. Generally a dispatcher will ask someone to calm down, take a breath and try to get the info out so it can be understood, but never – EVER – disconnect the calling party. That was shocking and I hope the veteran sergeant gets his pants sued off.

When I was security at the Hilton, I had a domestic situation one night that took a long time for Palm Springs Police to respond – when I called the third time, after 30 minutes had gone by since my first call, I asked the dispatcher what was taking so long and she informed me that they had “other priorities.”

My reply to her – “Well, I have a screaming woman covered in blood running around naked in our parking lot, so I hope you can squeeze us in sometime tonight.”

But I was careful not to cuss – wouldn’t want to have to wait any longer than we had already.

One comment on that video is “I bet that guy is a Christian.”

It’s been thumbed up 5 times so far.

Let me go crawl into a hole now.

I try not to read YouTube comments because they’re generally idiotic. Come on out of the hole, you’re okay.

I try to abstain from reading them (though, as displayed, I do not always succeed). It’s not a healthy practice… you can probably catch diseases from some of the comments left.

This police officer doesn’t watch any tv or movies or has never listened to satellite radio? My goodness, even a little old Canadian lady would overlook the language and try to read the situation—especially if that were my job.

Lorna´s brilliant babbling..Guess What I Got….

Exactly.. he escalated the situation (and her panic) with his reaction and inaction, which is something I wouldn’t expect from a 20-year police veteran. What a douche.
