Oh, yeah ... waht MCF said. The first sentence was a great hook. Right up there with the first sentence of Phillip K. Dicks' A Scanner Darkly.

Except, uh, I never did finish A Scanner Darkly.

Have you ever read Elmore Leonard’s Maximum Bob? It’s a fun read and there’s a lot of gator talk; killin’ ‘em, eatin’ ‘em, etc. Leonard’s characters say that the only way to kill a gator is with a gunshot or heavy blow between the eyes. Not that I’d argue with Tommy about it.
